Homework: Problems assigned from the textbook are listed on the syllabus. Any changes or additional assignments will be announced in class and then posted on this website. Answers to odd-numbered exercises are in the back of the book. I highly recommend working jointly on homework problems with fellow students.
WebWork: Computer-graded homework software that students are required to use in this course: Webwork website
MATLAB: Powerful computer-algebra software available by Login through CSI. Four MATLAB projects are described in a project booklet, which is available online and available as a printed booklet. The due dates for the projects are listed on the syllabus.
Exams: There will be two in-class exams, Exam 1 on Wednesday, September 29, and Exam 2 on Wednesday, November 10.
Grading: The course grade will be determined as follows: 25% Webwork, MATLAB, and other assignments + 45% Exams + 30% Final Exam.
Without exception, you must pass the exams to pass this course, and you must take the final exam at the time scheduled by the university.
Help: My office hours are on Mondays 3pm - 4:30pm, and Wednesdays 3:30pm - 4:30pm in my office, 1S-209. Also, free math tutoring is available.
Optimal Method of Study: (1.) Come to class (attendance is mandatory). (2.) Read the relevant sections after class. (3.) Do the homework. (4.) Compare your solutions with other students. (5.) Come to office hours or the help room with any remaining questions.
