Course description: We will study measures of central tendency and dispersion like mean, median and standard deviation, random variables, binomial & normal distributions, the normal curve, hypothesis testing, linear correlation and regression, basic concepts in probability with application. Statistical computer program R will be used extensively for computer labs.
Prerequisite: MTH 015 or MTH 020 or an appropriate score on the CUNY math proficiency/placement exam.

Mario Riola, 11th edition, Addison Wesley, ISBN-10: 0-321-89721-8 (for book store), 0-321-69450-3 (for online).
Syllabus & Homework: We will cover topics from Chapters 1 to 11. The syllabus and homework problems are listed on the Syllabus. Homework problems must be submitted online via MyStatLab , which is an online homework system. The course id for registering into MyStatLab is champanerkar03145 . Online homework will count towards 15% of the grade .
Computer Lab: The computer lab which accompanies this class meets on Wed: 10:10 - 11:00 in the computer lab 1S-108. We will use the statistical computer package R to do a number of lab assignments. Labs assignments will count towards 10% of the grade.
Required Calculator: TI-83 or TI-84
Exams: There will be 3 exams during the semester and a Final exam at the end of the semester. Here are the tentative dates:

Grading: The course grade will be computed as: 25% Lab Assignments & Online Homework + 45% Exams + 30% Final Exam. Missing the Final exam will result in an F grade. Any changes to the grading policy will be announced in the class.
