I intend to put a witty few paragraphs detailing how I came to be me, but that'll have to wait. For now, a summary.

I was nerd and a dork in high school. For college, I went to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which at the time was an all-male school. My junior year I went to study in Hungary, and began a 3 year period of intense de-dorking. I was a Fulbright scholar, and later dropped out of grad school, swearing to never do math again, and moved back to Hungary for a couple of years. Having become a suave man-of-the-world super-sybarite, I decided to return to the world of the sane. A few years later I had a Ph. D., child, wife, and mutt (acquired in reverse order).

After graduating in Illinois, I professed in San Diego for 3 years, and then moved to New York City in 2005. From 2005 through the pandemic, I lived in or near New York City. During the pandemic, I moved to Miami, which is my current permanent residence. I frequently fly into to New York for math and teaching.

Added Later: A friend has warned me that the dictionary defines 'mutt' as "a stupid or insignificant person". That isn't what I intended! The second dictionary definition is "a mongrel dog". That's what I meant. I swear, and she was the best dog ever.
