This is a list of tasks to do if you couldn’t make the introductory meeting on Monday or Tuesday.
Open the main site: http://www.math.csi.cuny.edu/Courses/iMTH123
Click on the week 1 assignment to find out what we are doing this week. I will follow this template each week this term. YOu should find instructions for reading my short lecture notes, the book sections, some web work links and a homework assignment. In addition you are told to participate in the Discussion Group.
Follow one of the web work links and see if you can do them. This week’s are more like MTH030 material
Go to the Discussion Group and reply to the welcome "Please say hello" message that I left. Read the other students
Login to the quiz site by typing in your ID and password in the box.
At the top of the page is a preferences link. Click this. at the top of that page is a change password link. Click that and use the online form to change you password. You can give yourself an alias to so that you don’t need to type your student id. This is optional. If for some reason you forget your password, I can recover it for you. Just email. If you can’t logon please let me know. This software is home-grown software developed by the math department (err, me ) and although usually reliable, it hasn’t been tested in every possible scenario.
Again follow the preferences link. This time enter in an email address. This is so other students in the class can easily send you email through the send mail link.
Click the send mail link and send your self email. Did it work?
Now click on New Project, then click the project called computer survey. (the first one)
Complete this survey. This won’t count of course. It is only to get an idea of where the students are at and to get the students familiar with the quiz software. You should click "save" if you want to finish later, "save and submit" to turn it in to me.
That’s it. You should be “good to go”
