Abstract: We will discuss a paper by Aitchinson and Reeves in which they study alternating links such that the complete hyperbolic metric can be realised directly by pairwise identification of faces of two ideal hyperbolic polyhedra.

Title: Regular and semi-regular links in the thickened torus

Abstract: Aitchison and Reeves studied alternating links in the 3-sphere for which the complete hyperbolic metric can be realised directly by pairwise identification of faces of two ideal hyperbolic polyhedra. They called such links completely realizable. They described a large but finite family of completely realizable alternating links, called Archimedean links. We show that many infinite families of alternating links in the thickened torus are completely realizable for a similar notion of a polyhedral decomposition into torihedra. This is joint work with Ilya Kofman and Jessica Purcell.
