Title: Ribbon graphs and partial duality
Speaker: Seungwon Kim
Abstract: Ribbon graph is a surface with boundary,
wich is union of two types of discs; vertices and edges. It is
equivalent to graphs cellularly embedded in surfaces. It is
combinatorial object, but recent work show that there is a relation
to knot theory. I will talk about definition of ribbon graphs and
partial duality for ribbon graphs. After that, I will talk about
some propositions about partial duality and knot theory.
