Academic Calender
Course description: We will cover topics in algebra and trigonometry including functions, quadratic polynomials, logarithmic, exponential and trigonometric functions, inequalities, graphs and equations, inverse functions, right triangle trigonometry and introduce the use of graphing calculators.
Prerequisite: MTH 030 or an appropriate score on the CUNY math proficiency/placement exam.
Course syllabus: We will cover topics from Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (for 3rd edition). See Schedule & Homework for more details.
Homework: Homework assigned from the book is listed on Schedule & Homework. Students are expected to do some part of this homework regularly in order to understand the topics covered in the class. This homework will not be collected.
Webworks: Webworks is computer graded homework which the students are required to do for this course. It will count towards 30% of the grade.
Exams: There will be 3 exams during the semester and a Final exam at the end of the semester. Here are the tentative dates:
- Exam 1: Wednesday Sept 30th (Review on Tuesday Sept 29th)
- Exam 2: Wednesday Nov 4th (Review on Monday Nov 2nd)
- Exam 3: Monday Dec 7th (Review on Wednesday Dec 2nd)
- Final Exam: TBA
Grading:The course grade will be determined as follows:
30% Webwork + 45 % Exams + 25% Final Exam.
Missing the Final exam will result in an F grade.
